After hearing the music of Paco de Lucia and John William’s interpretation of Asturias by Isaac Albeniz, Chris Carelli began playing the classical guitar with great enthusiasm. In 1993, he began his studies with guitarist Jim Dellet (student of the great George Van Eps).
Upon entrance into the University of California, San Diego in 1995, Chris came under the tutelage of Celin Romero, member of the famous international guitar quartet “Los Romeros.” Since then, Chris has earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Music from the University of California, San Diego and Master of Music degree from San Diego State University. He has performed for and studied with Celin, Pepe, & Angel Romero, Christopher Parkening, John Sutherland, William Burgess, John Duarte and in the summer of 1996 Chris studied with Sharon Isbin at the Aspen Music Festival in Aspen, Colorado.
“Anthology” is Chris’s debut recording. It is the product of the journey made so far and marks the next chapter in his promising career. |
